Henry Ford CC Parking Lot

WGI provided a reconstruction of all surface parking lots and access roads. The scope included functional and site design, including layout, materials, grading, parking control equipment, stormwater treatment and detention, landscaping, site furnishings, lighting, and security.

Unique project features/challenges:

• Subgrade soils consisted of very unstable and poorly drained clay, so subgrade stabilization and pavement design were difficult.
• They were maximizing parking count while providing enhanced vehicular and pedestrian safety and routing were key and sometimes conflicting priorities.
• Identifying specific areas requiring special traffic patterns and accommodation, ranging from the auto-technology vehicle storage yard to the child care center drop-off, was challenging to integrate into the overall traffic and parking scheme.
