The Louisville International Airport Parking Deck was designed by WGI and constructed in 1997. A number of durability features were designed into this facility’s original construction, including micro silica-modified concrete with an integral corrosion inhibitor, epoxy-coated reinforcing steel, and a completely encapsulated post-tensioning system. The structure performs well as a result, with only minor isolated defects such as shrinkage cracking and spalling evident.
In 2003 and 2009, WGI completed a maintenance review, including recommendations for routine and preventative maintenance actions. Based on these recommendations, the Airport has routinely budgeted monies for the structure’s upkeep, and WGI has provided details and construction administration services for the implementation over the years.
