The Millennium Parking Garages consist of 4 underground parking structures in downtown Chicago that account for approximately 9,176 parking stalls that service the Millennium Park, Grant Park, and Maggie Daley Park. In 2014, Bob Tober at his previous employer was Project Principal-in-charge for the complete waterproofing of the 20-acre Maggie Daley Park above the Millennium Lakeside parking garage. This project featured a myriad of waterproofing challenges and details over its expanse.
Later, in 2017, WGI was retained to complete on-going capital asset annual evaluations for the next 5 years. WGI and their sub-consultants provided acoustic soundings of the topside and undersides of the supported slabs and visual review of structural concrete and waterproofing systems, MEP systems, Fire Protection systems, Communication and Security systems, and Operation/Functional review.
Project Highlights:
• Approximately 800,000 SF of waterproofing, protection course, root barrier, drainage mat, insulation over Field House, and 3,000 SF of overhead concrete repairs in the garage below.
