The rehabilitation of this downtown City of San Antonio Main Plaza is critical to the community, given the plaza’s historic significance and its role in hosting large events such as Fiesta and The Saga throughout the year. The project includes stabilizing five plaza fountains and providing the design and construction of the approved master plan. As the prime consultant, WGI provided several services for the City of San Antonio. This includes project management, landscape architecture, civil engineering, stakeholder coordination, survey, traffic and utility coordination, SUE, utility design, and estimating/constructability.

In the project’s initial phase, WGI worked with the City to improve the plaza’s accessibility in preparation for San Antonio’s annual Fiesta event. Currently, WGI is preparing to take the recently completed master plan for the plaza through design and construction. This is a complex undertaking that will involve engaging several stakeholders, including the County, Main Plaza Conservancy, and the San Fernando Cathedral, Bexar County and managing multiple sub-consultants, including architecture, water feature, lighting, and audio specialists. WGI also closely coordinated with consultants and stakeholders working on related City projects in the vicinity. WGI serves as the City’s trusted partner in coordinating a diverse team of subconsultants for this project. WGI’s overarching project goals include enhancing the plaza’s aesthetics, functionality, and accessibility to benefit the community.
