Mina Elementary Classroom Expansion

The 2025 Phase II addition to the historic Mina Elementary School in Bastrop Independent School District aimed to revitalize the oldest district campus to serve the next generation of students. The Phase II building expansion supplements a 2023 Phase I reconstruction with a new library, cafeteria/kitchen, gymnasium, science and computer labs, music room, art room, and 20 classrooms. This 2-story, 54,139 SF addition is Type II-B construction and offers grand curtainwall views with playful courtyards and flexible teaching spaces.  

WGI’s team managed all phases of structural engineering, from schematic design through construction administration. The team developed code-compliant structural solutions, coordinated with architectural and MEP consultants, and produced detailed plans and specifications using Autodesk Revit. Project meetings, site observations, and construction support were provided to facilitate smooth progress and address technical questions as they arose.
