The Martin Luther King, Jr. Transportation Center is a multimodal transportation center with transit and parking facilities. The 484-space parking structure has five levels and provides clean, safe, and convenient enclosed parking.
The center has climate-controlled skyway access to the adjacent Orpheum Theatre, a performing arts center; the Frances Building; and other buildings on the skywalk system. Employees of surrounding businesses utilize the long-term parking, while short-term parking is provided for downtown shoppers and visitors.
The ground-level transit center features a passenger ticketing area, waiting areas, and retail space. The ground-level terminal is utilized by local buses, taxis, and Greyhound/Jefferson buses. Glass-backed elevators and glass-enclosed stair towers provide enhanced visibility and security.
This project received an Honorable Mention Award in the International Parking Institute’s Awards for Excellence.
