Munson Medical Center is a regional medical referral center located in Traverse City, serving patients from 32 counties in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. It has 391 inpatient beds and nearly 400 physicians representing 41 specialties. It repeatedly ranks among the Top 100 Hospitals.
WGI completed a supply/demand analysis for existing and future parking conditions on the hospital campus. A parking system analysis, including alternative layouts for the main visitor lot, was provided and access control measures were identified and evaluated.
Munson Medical Center later commissioned WGI to design its first parking structure. Because it was also the first parking structure within the Grand Traverse Bay region, architecture and user-friendly features were very important. The Grand Traverse Commons Commission worked closely with the design team to develop an aesthetically compatible architectural façade in the garage.
