This project was located in Chatsworth, a small town nestled in the mountains of northwest Georgia in Murray County. WGI was contracted by Hydra Engineering to perform a topographic survey depicting three critical landslide and erosion areas on Old CCC Camp Road. This project was far from ordinary and presented its own unique challenges and successes. At altitudes of almost 6,000 feet, our field crews had to spend four days scaling down the sides of the mountains to get sufficient shots to create a full digital terrain model of the requested areas – “Holly 1,” “Holly 3,” and “Tater Patch.” The deliverable was an impressive topographic survey which will be used by engineers in the future redesign and rehabilitation of the road.
