WGI was contracted to work at the Opa-Locka Airport, a general aviation and joint civil-military airfield from which the busiest air-sea rescue unit in the world operates. Opa-Locka is located 10 miles north of the central business district of Miami.
The project consisted of a site meeting with the engineer to discuss the field locations and required schedule. Homeland Security protocols were in place due to the work being completed airside, and background checks on staff were completed to satisfy these protocols. Survey crews located all above and below ground improvements as well as all striping and airport lighting. The final deliverables were electronic CAD files and an X, Y and Z coordinate list, as well as PDF documents.
