Palm Bay 3 - ENSO

WGI prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) and conducted a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of the 12.4-acre site for the construction of a new multi-unit residential complex. The environmental assessment evaluated potential impacts on natural resources such as wetlands; although no wetlands existed on the property, WGI verified with agency approval that no wetlands existed on site. WGI further evaluated and identified areas on site for the potential presence of gopher tortoises, scrub jay habitat, and endangered species habitat. 

Project Highlights 

• WGI staff conducted gopher tortoise burrow surveys, prepared and received an FWC gopher tortoise relocation permit, evacuated all permitted gopher tortoise burrows, assessed the health of captured gopher tortoises, and released them at designated conservation sites. WGI staff conducted a scrub jay survey and coordinated with USFWS with the result of no scrub jays and no further action required.
