The Sikorsky hanger expansion project is located at the Pratt & Whitney Facility, Palm Beach County, Florida. The project included the expansion of an existing facility into freshwater wetland marsh area for construction of the hanger fire water tank facility. WGI coordinated the wetland permitting. Less than ½ acre of direct and secondary wetland impacts occurred for this project.
Pratt & Whitney’s 60-acre on-site wetland mitigation area was utilized to provide compensatory mitigation. Mitigation included a combination of exotic vegetation removal and management, filling of drainage ditches and swales to improve hydrology, and a long term monitoring program to ensure the success of this mitigation/restoration effort.
