Snapper Creek Playground

Snapper Creek’s playground renovation fulfills Miami-Dade’s goal of shifting from traditional prefabricated playgrounds to incorporating nature-inspired components into the design. The new play experience utilizes equipment sited around the park’s mature existing trees to provide natural shade and reinforce the nature-based theme while maintaining the park’s open sports field. The playground offers climbing structures, musical components, and play areas geared to different age groups while offering full ADA accessibility to all components. Adjacent to the playground, the project also included an outdoor fitness area with training machines that are ADA-accessible and geared toward offering a full-body workout.

• The playground design takes advantage of existing topography to shape the embankment slide to help minimize cut/fill material.
