St. Louis Zoo Parking Garage

WGI provided a condition assessment of the garage to determine the general condition of the facility and provide recommendations for repairing, protecting, and improving the structure for its safe operation consistent with the 2009 International Building Code. An opinion of construction costs for the recommended repairs and improvements was prepared.

The concrete slabs exhibit widespread deterioration resulting from corrosion of the embedded mild reinforcing steel as well as failed post-tensioning cables. Repairs included:

• Concrete repairs
• Post-tensioning system repairs
• Application/Replacement of joint sealants
• Beam and column repairs
• Waterproofing protection
• Fall protection improvements
• Electrical improvements, including replacement of all electrical receptacles and lighting systems
• Mechanical improvements, including replacement all drainage piping
• Architectural improvements, including painting, pavement markings, and signage
