The Lion

Client:
OZ Architecture
Market:
Parking
Location:
Vail, Colorado

Project Details

The 1970’s era Lionshead Inn was demolished and completely redeveloped into The Lion, the new gateway to Vail’s Lionshead Village. The 311,000 square-foot, $90 million facility incorporates 65 luxury residential units, employee housing, an indoor pool, and three levels of underground parking. The exterior design takes cues from the Bavarian Alps and a half-century of Vail development tradition. The Lion is steps away from the Lionshead gondola and all the associated summer and winter activities.

The facility incorporates 169 parking spaces. Limited public parking is available on the upper level for guests and patrons of the onsite retail/restaurant, while the lower levels of secured parking for residents. The parking levels of the structure are short span, conventionally-reinforced concrete construction, which required a traffic-bearing waterproofing membrane throughout.
