University Hospitals Garage 59 Parking Garage Restoration

 University Hospitals Case Medical Center Garage 59 is located adjacent to Case Western Reserve University. The parking garage is a two-bay, five-level parking structure configured as a double helix. The garage levels are ramped with angled parking, and traffic flow throughout the garage is one-way. The structural system consists of cast-in-place, one-way slabs spanning east to west, supported by cast-in-place, and post-tensioned beams spanning north to south. The façade of the parking garage consists of precast concrete panels anchored to the concrete structure. 

WGI was retained to review particular deterioration within the parking garage and perform a condition appraisal of the expansion joints throughout the garage. We produced a report complete with findings, conclusions, and restoration recommendations. University Hospitals elected to perform the recommended concrete repairs and complete the removal and replacement of the expansion joints throughout the garage. WGI was retained to perform design, bidding, and construction administration services.
