WGI was responsible for the design, permitting, and construction administrative services for the relocation of a wastewater force main that was attached to the existing bridge over the Jupiter River South Channel. The force main was required to be relocated in advance of an Florida Department of Transportation Design-Build project to replace the existing bridge. The project included the design of a 6” directional bore under the channel. Total length of force main relocation was approximately 1,000 lf. Careful consideration was taken to ensure that the directional bore did not impact the sensitive waters in the channel, as well as any seagrass and mangroves within the project area. Coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Design-Build Team performing the bridge construction, as well as coordination with other existing utilities, was necessary. This project required extensive permitting through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as well as the United States Army Corps of Engineers and Florida Department of Transportation.
