The Veteran’s Administration’s (VA) Medical Center is a general medical, psychiatric and surgical facility providing comprehensive care for returning veterans.
As an established hospital, the facility is quite extensive with well-landscaped grounds and parking areas as well as entry areas and a bus shelter. After the deadly hurricane season of 2004, WGI was selected by the VA Hospital’s Engineering Department to provide a study of the damaged grounds and provide a list of recommended plant material to be replaced after the storms. In addition, we were contracted to design and provide construction documentation for gazebo bus shelter structures which were damaged and or moved during the widening of Military Trail. These structures were designed for patients that utilize the transit system. Funding was approved through Congress in Washington and the design and construction was completed. WGI worked as a subcontractor with Metric Engineers to complete the design of the bus shelter project.
