Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum Shared Parking Study

Client:
Lowry Redevelopment Authority
Market:
Cities and Communities
Location:
Denver, Colorado

Project Details

Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum is located in the Lowry community in Denver. The former Air Force hangar houses over three dozen historic airplanes and space vehicles. The 1930s era hanger also accommodates special events with up to 3,000 guests.

WGI conducted a shared parking study of the museum. The parking study presented peak parking demand for various events, estimated the number of on-site spaces available for event parking, identified and prioritized potential off-site locations for event parking, estimated the number of spaces available during special events, and provided a preliminary determination of the feasibility of using Hanger 2 for temporary indoor parking.

Scope of Services:

  • Analyze historical information on event attendance and parking demand
  • Estimate the number of parking spaces in on-site lots based on established parking geometrics and efficiencies
  • Identify potential off-site locations for event parking, quantify the number of spaces, and determine available spaces when events will likely occur
  • Investigate the feasibility of using Hanger 2 for temporary parking
