Construction is well underway for the Studio Park development in Grand Rapids. This first phase of development features a hotel, two residential buildings, a Studio C! movie theatre, a public piazza, and a parking structure. Future phases will add a liner office building adjacent to the parking structure and a 16 story residential tower on top of the parking structure. WGI provided prime, parking consulting, and structural engineering services for the parking structure. The project is being developed by Olsen-Loeks Development and the parking structure is being built by Pioneer Construction.
Once complete, the parking structure will hold 920 parking spaces on 6 levels. It will not only serve the development but also provide public parking and event parking for nearby Van Andel Arena. Construction of the cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structure began in April 2018 and it is scheduled to open in September 2019.
In association with the Studio C! movie theatre, Darth Vader and stormtroopers were onsite for groundbreaking and Spiderman swung by the site to check out the progress last year.
