Event Recap: Celebrating E-Week 2026

Engineering Week, hosted by the National Society of Professional Engineers, is a time to celebrate the people, ideas, and innovations that shape our world, and this year, #EWeek2026 was nothing short of inspiring.

Held each year at the end of February, WGI joined the global engineering community to recognize the innovators, problem-solvers, and engineers who turn complex challenges into real-world solutions. This year’s theme, #TransformYourFuture, highlighted how engineering creates opportunity, strengthens communities, and empowers the next generation.

Kicking Off the Celebration

We kicked off the week across our offices with a celebratory breakfast, a chance for associates to connect and start the week off strong. Early in the celebration, we started to recognize our standout team members for their hard work, dedication, and contributions, which were well-deserved honors that reflected the exceptional talent across our organization.

Our offices also added a fun twist with mini bobblehead awards, celebrating the impact and leadership that make WGI such a special place to work.

Spotlighting Excellence

Engineering is more than calculations and code; it’s creativity and collaboration in action. It’s the late nights refining a design, the persistence to troubleshoot what others might walk away from, and the vision to imagine something better.

This week, we spotlighted several engineers whose impact extends well beyond project deliverables, recognizing their dedication to excellence, mentorship, and innovation. From technical expertise to leadership, these individuals truly exemplify the spirit of Engineering Week and inspire the teams around them every day.

Hands-On Fun and Team Building

E-Week also wasn't just about recognition; it was about collaborating and having fun! Teams across our offices participated in a 'Balloon Derby,' putting their creativity and engineering skills to the test by designing and building balloon-powered derby cars. The competition brought out teamwork, ingenuity, and a little healthy rivalry, culminating in winning teams who demonstrated exceptional design and execution.

Later in the week, our associates gathered to enjoy a STEM-inspired movie event, celebrating engineering in action with popcorn in hand. These moments offered an opportunity to relax, connect with colleagues, and reflect on the work that makes WGI and the engineering profession so impactful.

Beyond the Office: Inspiring the Next Generation

As part of #EWeek2026, we also took time to spotlight the ways our WGI associates give back beyond their day-to-day project work. From mentoring students to volunteering and supporting STEM initiatives, our teams continued to make an impact that extends well outside the office.

Across multiple regions, associates participated in school career days, STEM outreach programs, and volunteer events, connecting with students from elementary through university levels. In San Antonio, volunteers engaged with hundreds of elementary students, showing how a range of civil engineering projects intersect with everyday life. At the university level, WGI associates returned as alumni and former interns to share professional journeys, career insights, and hands-on advice, inspiring the next generation of engineers to explore what’s possible.
