Ala Moana Center (AMC) is located between Honolulu Harbor and Waikiki on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Ala Moana means ‘path to the sea’ in the Hawaiian language. It is the largest open-air retail center in the world with approximately 350 stores and over 160 dining options. The property sees approximately 53M visitations each year and includes 11,000 structured parking spaces to serve both its retail and commercial office space clientele.
WGI is providing civil and structural engineering services to AMC, including pavement analysis and replacement, vehicular and pedestrian traffic analysis and recommendations, parking structure restoration and repair, water leakage mitigation, skylight system replacement, security barrier improvements, cooling tower equipment support replacement, roof equipment safety access, and parking lighting improvements. WGI currently reviews all tenant improvement projects that have a structural component.
WGI also provided consulting as-needed for special, temporary projects at AMC such as a giant, drive-in movie screen structure as well as a new 50-foot tall Santa Claus that will appear this year!
