WGI's Environmental Services team has been selected for the FDOT District 6 Districtwide Permits contract for the third consecutive time. The new five-year, $1.5 million contract continues the environmental permitting and regulatory support WGI has provided to the Florida Department of Transportation in District 6 since 2017.
A Third Term With District 6
WGI first won the Districtwide Permits contract in 2017 and was selected again in 2022, both times for five-year, $1.5 million terms. Across those two contracts, the team has completed more than 45 task work orders for transportation projects throughout the district.
The work has also earned FDOT's highest marks. FDOT scores every professional services contract on a 1 to 5 scale for quality, schedule, and management, and a 5 means the consultant was proactive, resolved problems early, and needed minimal Department involvement. WGI has received perfect 5.0 scores on four consecutive evaluations for this contract.
"We are excited that FDOT has chosen WGI to continue providing top-notch permit support services for their work plan over the next five years."
Permitting Support for South Florida's Biggest Projects
Under the contract, WGI handles environmental permitting and regulatory coordination for District 6 transportation projects. One of the largest assignments to date is the Golden Glades Interchange Reconstruction, a $633 million project and the largest design-build project in FDOT history. WGI developed the permitting strategy for its seven interconnected segments, coordinating approvals with the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management, the South Florida Water Management District, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
On the SR 934/NE 79th Street Bridge Replacement projects, the team completed wetland delineations, benthic resource surveys, and will conduct state and federal permitting. The permitting work will include securing proprietary approvals for a Sovereign Submerged Lands Easement to replace two bridges over Biscayne Bay.
