Between Sept. 9 and Oct. 15, WGI's recruiting team and associates from across the firm set up at 12 career fairs and tailgates on 11 campuses in Texas, Florida, Alabama, Puerto Rico, and Indiana. Each stop meant a day of conversations with students about internships, first jobs, and the projects WGI teams are working on now.
"We met students eager to put their ideas to work, explore new technology, and learn how careers in engineering, design, and geospatial can make a lasting impact on communities"
Why We Show Up on Campus
A job posting can tell a student what a role is called and where it's based. The associates at our tables this fall could tell them what they're working on right now and what their first year at WGI was like. That's why our recruiting team brings engineers and geospatial professionals from our offices to campus with them.
Showing up every fall also means students know us before they're choosing a first job. A sophomore who stops by our table might apply for an internship the next summer and join WGI full-time after graduation. Our future project managers and survey crew leads are in those engineering programs today, and we'd rather meet them on campus than wait for a résumé to show up.
Where We Recruited This Fall
The season opened in Texas on Sept. 9 with the UTSA Fall 2026 STEM Career Expo in San Antonio and the first day of the two-day Engineering Expo at the University of Texas at Austin. The following week, we met students at the University of Houston's Cullen Engineering Career Fair on Sept. 16 and the Texas A&M ASCE In-Person Engineering Career Fair on Sept. 17.
In Florida, our Geospatial team started things off at a Geospatial Tailgate at the University of Florida on Sept. 12. From there, we headed to the FAMU-FSU Engineering & Technology Job & Internship Fair in Tallahassee on Sept. 22, the University of South Florida's Civil Engineering Career Fair in Tampa on Sept. 30, and the University of Central Florida's Internship & Career Expo in Orlando on Oct. 1.
On Oct. 2, WGI joined the University of Puerto Rico's 38th Fall Job Fair. Oct. 6 was a split day. Geospatial associates from Huntsville and Tallahassee hosted students at the Troy University tailgate in Alabama, while in Gainesville we joined civil, coastal, and environmental engineering students and alumni at ESSIE's Evening with Industry, hosted by the University of Florida's Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment.
The season wrapped on Oct. 15 in West Lafayette, Indiana, at Purdue University's CESAC Civil & Construction Engineering Career Fair.
Thank you to the WGI team members who joined us on campus, shared their career journeys, and brought our projects to life through their own experiences. Seeing students get excited about the work happening across WGI was a reminder of the connection between what we do today and the talent who will help shape what comes next.
Apply for a Summer 2027 Internship
Applications for WGI's summer 2027 internships are now open. Interns join project teams in our offices and work on active client projects across all of our disciplines.
If we met you at a career fair this fall, or you're a student looking at internships and entry-level roles in engineering, design, or geospatial, explore open positions at WGI and connect with our team today!
Stay Tuned for Spring
Our spring career fair season starts in January, with stops across the Southeast. Follow WGI on LinkedIn and check back here for the full spring lineup.
