To obtain a permit for the construction of a new driveway, or to revise an old one, the applicant must complete and submit form 1058, Permit to Construct Access Driveway Facilities on Highway Right of Way, to the Texas Department of Transportation. The 1058 form can be found on the TxDOT website. A description of the proposed work, the applicant’s name, mailing address, telephone number and location of the proposed driveway must be included on the form. The application can be completed by the property owner or by an authorized representative. Each application should include drawings of the plans and profiles of the work within the Right Of Way (ROW) and a vicinity map.
Construction work cannot take place in the ROW until a fully executed driveway permit has been received by the applicant and the applicant has given 24-hour notice to TxDOT.
The proposed driveway must be constructed in accordance with a fully executed driveway permit and all applicable regulations. An inspector from TxDOT will review the driveway construction to determine if it is acceptable or if any modifications are needed.
Any impacts to drainage on the state highway system resulting from the installation of the proposed driveway will need to coordinated and approved by TXxDOT as well.
