In early 2020, it seemed that we were well on the way to a world of ubiquitous ridesharing and fully-autonomous vehicles. Live-work-play in the urban core was the development model to appeal to young and old. Then, COVID caused a major disruption that forced people to rethink how they work, where they live, and what options they use to travel. People discovered that they have choices for how they commute, or whether they commute at all.
How do we plan and design for a future that anticipates continual technological development? How to we account for things like climate change and data security and still give people an wide array of transportation options and user conveniences?
