WGI performed a review of the exterior façade of Degage Ministries Building. The visual survey was performed from the ground and the roof, and included close-up examination from an articulating man-lift. The review was primarily focused at the entablature at the 4th Floor of the building as well as the rope accent at the building corners. Design documents were developed and construction administration provided for the following temporary repairs in 2014:
• Installation of netting and steel channel support
• Removal and storage of terra cotta rope detail
• Removal of loose delaminated terra cotta
Design documents were developed to provide a more permanent solution to the temporary repairs completed in 2014 and construction administration provided for the following repairs in 2017:
• Reconstructed entablature utilizing existing terra cotta and cast glass-fiber-reinforced-concrete (GFRC)
• Re-anchoring of terra cotta cornice
• Removal of netting and steel channel support
• Rebuild portions of brick parapet
• Re-pointing of deterioriated mortar joints
• Replaced deteriorated terra cotta entablature with new GFRP units and maintained requirements of the local historic district
• Utilized all new galvanized anchors and mounting hardware
