WGI is providing landscape architecture, civil engineering, surveying, and community engagement to improve and rehabilitate park facilities for Escobar Park, intending to improve the park’s accessibility.
WGI engaged with the residents of nearby neighborhoods and the active handball community within the city, as this project is particularly significant to the handball community, which hosts numerous handball tournaments. With WGI providing shade structures for those courts, the handball community’s park experience has significantly improved.
WGI’s work also focused on preserving the mature trees in the park, including those surrounding the handball courts. Providing several services for the existing trail along Apache Creek was also anticipated. These will include new trail amenities and implementing a prominent trailhead, enriching the outdoor experience for park visitors.
