This utility project was part of an accelerated 1,250- mile fiber installation through South Florida’s Tri- County area to install 5G network cable for Verizon. WGI provided environmental, geospatial, civil, and utility services for the design and permitting of 55 separate Intracoastal and waterway communication fiber crossings throughout Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward counties. WGI provided the civil design, seagrass studies, hydrographic and upland surveys, as well as all associated permit drawings, and extensive coordination with other utility owners and environmental and right-of-way authorities, including federal, state, county, and local municipalities. Permitting included local, state, and federal right- of-way and environmental agencies, including the Florida Department of Transporation, South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Division of State Lands for activities occurring on sovereign submerged lands. This project required the submittal of all permit applications and supporting documentation to all agencies within 120 calendar days.
