WGI provided traffic control plan design, design surveys, right-of-way maps, and utility locate for this project, including widening, milling and resurfacing, and reconstruction of Florida’s Turnpike from six to eight/ten lanes for approximately six miles. The project lies within the jurisdictional boundaries of four municipalities and six water control districts and contains the facilities of 13 utilities, including two wellfields, within its limits.
Improvements included ramp modifications at Sunrise Boulevard, a new ramp bridge over the C-12 Canal, mainline bridge widenings over Broward Boulevard and the C-12 Canal, and the reconstruction of the Peters Road bridge over the mainline to accommodate the southbound mainline widening. Survey efforts completed by WGI included locating all underground utilities using subsurface utility engineering (SUE) techniques. SUE work included a 200-foot interval locates on two high-pressure regional transmission gas lines.
