WGI was brought in to provide a condition appraisal for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority’s bus garage and provide construction documents and construction administration services based on those recommendations. The review included visual observations aided by sounding with a full chain drag survey to locate delaminations in the concrete slab. The garage’s structural system consists of cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete slabs, and beams.Â
WGI’s recommended repair program included various concrete repairs, repairing damaged post-tensioning tendons in the slabs, reinstalling a new extra heavy-duty deck coating to handle the bus loadings, and waterproofing repairs. The garage offered its challenges with repairing larger than typical slabs and beams to account for the heavy loads being supported combined with the phasing requirements to work around the busses being parked above.Â
The project was completed within budget.Â
