WGI was responsible for the preparation of roadway and signing and pavement marking plans required for improvements to Hood Road from west of Central Boulevard to Alternate A1A (SR 811), a distance of 1.1 miles. Improvements to this 2-lane rural collector consisted of roadway widening and reconstruction to a curbed 4-lane divided urban collector; capacity improvements to the existing stormwater management facilities that could handle the additional impervious areas and also be in compliance with previously approved area-wide basin study recommendations; signalization improvements to three intersections (Central Boulevard, SR 811 and Military Trail); and railroad crossing improvements.
Environmental permitting through South Florida Water Management and Northern Palm Beach County Improvement Districts, FDOT permitting, title ownership research, topographical survey, geotechnical investigation, aerial photogrammetry, utility coordination, and Florida East Coast Railway coordination were all additional services completed as part of the design effort.
