WGI provided structural engineering services associated with the design of a bridge over the Lake Worth Drainage District (LWDD) E-1 Canal to access the Seven Bridges property from State Road 7. The bridge was designed to accommodate three traffic lanes, a median, and two sidewalks and had an overall length of 35 feet. The design was based on current applicable state and county Load and Resistance Factor Design specifications, including structural details and notes. A cost estimate was provided to the client to help with project budgeting. WGI obtained permits for the proposed construction from LWDD, the Army Corps of Engineers, and Palm Beach County Land Development.
Construction administration services included a review of shop drawings; monitoring test pile driving; analyzing test pile driving results, including a computer analysis to determine production pile lengths and blow counts required for production piles; verifying filter cloth installation; and grouting of sheet pile panel joints. In addition, we performed inspections of concrete construction, including reinforcing steel and casting for pile caps, deck slab units, deck slab closure pours, sidewalks and medians, barrier walls, approach slabs, and inspected deck slab post-tensioning. As-built drawings and a certification package were provided to LWDD upon completion.
