Idea Bluff Springs

The IDEA Public Schools Bluff Springs campus is located on a 16.18-acre site in Austin, Texas. The campus has two schools: IDEA Bluff Springs Academy, which has begun with kindergarten through second-grade classes, and IDEA Bluff Springs College Prep, which has opened with a class of sixth graders. A 64,360-square-foot building serves approximately 450 students in grades K-6. The site is located within Austin’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction, requiring extensive coordination among City and Travis County plan reviewers. The first phase of construction was completed in 2016. A second phase will add over 35,000 square feet of classroom space and will house the third-grade class. WGI was responsible for site analysis and due diligence, civil engineering design, striping and signage design, traffic signal design, utility and drainage design, regulatory permitting, and construction administration. Our team’s work with the local electric provider and Travis County allowed for a quicker installation of the crosswalk lighting, signage, and striping.

Permitting through the City of Austin and Travis County can often pose challenges to schedules. Given our strong relationships with City and County personnel, our team could promptly resolve permitting issues. Our timely delivery of the site permit allowed for construction to begin quickly and led to the completion of the project to be in time for the opening day of school. Additionally, our team facilitated scheduling meetings with City and County personnel, resulting in a more expedient resolution to comments during the permitting process and the construction process with inspections.
