Kent State University McGilvrey Hall Building Enclosure

WGI provided evaluation, design, bidding, construction administration services for repairs to the exterior walls and the exterior plazas and stairs. Repairs included: 100 percent mortar repointing, brick replacement at the parapets and isolated locations of distress, stone crack repairs, stone patching, replacement of corroded lintels, cleaning and painting steel lintels remain, installation of through-wall flashing, and cleaning of the exterior brick and stone masonry.

Kent State University elected to perform masonry repairs to restore the building façade that had deteriorated over time. Waterproofing repairs were performed to increase the service life of the building exterior. Masonry repairs were performed and a clear water repellent applied to waterproof the building envelope. KSU and WGI developed a repair program to meet the available budget.
