Project Details

WGI provided term contract engineering services for MUSC, including evaluating six parking structures located on campus. WGI assessed the existing parking structures’ condition, including a review of original design drawings and a physical inspection of each facility. An analysis of the Harborview Garage existing barrier rail system’s structural integrity was conducted to determine whether or not it was adequately designed to resist vehicular impact load per the requirements outlined in the International Building Code (IBC). Reports with detailed descriptions of observations were provided and system-wide maintenance and repair and budget recommendations projected over a 10-year time frame. Repairs were implemented on the Harborview and Palmetto garages.

Project Highlights:

• Structural evaluation
• 10-year maintenance plan
• Concrete topping repairs
• Steel support installation
• Completed on time and on budget
