(Houston, Texas – April 27, 2026) Coleen Johnson, Director of Geospatial, proudly announces that Jibrael “Jib” Ahmad, LSLS, RPLS, PLS, LS, CFM, has joined WGI as Senior Operations Manager within the Geospatial Division. Jib will be based in WGI’s Houston, Texas office, supporting the firm’s strategic growth and technical leadership across the region.
With more than three decades of experience, Jib brings a highly specialized background in coastal and water boundary surveys, floodplain mapping, and advanced geospatial data acquisition technologies, strengthening WGI’s already formidable position as a leader in geospatial services and surveying. His technical expertise includes aerial (manned and unmanned), mobile and terrestrial lidar, and bathymetric/hydrographic surveying.
Throughout his career, Jib has led and contributed to numerous high-profile and technically complex projects. His experience includes survey leadership for major transportation corridors, such as IH 10 at the San Jacinto River in Harris County, where he managed a 6.5-mile design survey involving right-of-way mapping, aerial photogrammetry, lidar, and boundary determinations for Permanent School Fund lands. He also played a key role in resolving land ownership and right-of-way challenges through coordination with agencies including TxDOT, the Texas General Land Office, and the Brazos River Authority.
In addition, Jib has delivered critical survey and boundary solutions for projects like the US 377 crossing at Lake Granbury and route surveys along the Brazos River, supporting infrastructure development while navigating environmentally sensitive areas and complex jurisdictional requirements. His work has consistently helped clients reduce risk, control costs, and streamline project delivery.

Jib is licensed as a Texas Licensed State Land Surveyor, a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor, a South Dakota Registered Land Surveyor, a North Dakota Professional Land Surveyor, and a Kentucky Land Surveyor. He is also a Texas Certified Floodplain Manager. His diverse technical background and leadership experience position him as a key asset in advancing WGI’s geospatial capabilities.

As Senior Operations Manager, Jib will lead geospatial operations in Houston, execute business development and growth initiatives for the firm’s Geospatial Division, including establishing and growing the firm’s LSLS service line, oversee complex survey and mapping projects, and build and expand relationships and contract opportunities with state and regional stakeholders to support the continued growth and innovation of WGI’s Geospatial Division across Texas.
