A Day in the Life of an Environmental Scientist

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be an Environmental Scientist? What even is Environmental Science? Never fear, because WGI is here to shed some light on this fast growing profession and provide a window into what a day in the life of an environmental scientist entails. 

Meet Amanda Montgomery, an Environmental Scientist in our Fort Lauderdale office. Amanda has a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in Marine Biology. Her area of expertise is in freshwater and coastal systems, with a background in environmental resource permitting and state land authorizations.

From due-diligence through construction, WGI's Environmental Services team handles all environmental issues, including wetlands, threatened and endangered species, water quality, trees, contamination, and environmental permitting and compliance.

With increased scrutiny on industries and pressure on governments to reduce the harmful effects their activities have on our environment, there is more demand than ever for environmental scientists. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that Environmental Scientists and Specialists will benefit from 8% job growth from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.
