WGI’s Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) crews out of our Fort Lauderdale, Florida office have been working diligently providing designating and locating services on the Florida Turnpike Project Development and Environment Study from Interstate 595 to Wiles Road, in Broward County. Crews are utilizing some of our newest and most advanced equipment to work on this project safely and efficiently. The newest addition to WGI’s Vac Truck Fleet, the Tellus 5500 Vacuum Excavation System, was immediately put to work on this project doing 320 locates on a FGT 36” gas main along the Florida Turnpike right of way. The crews are also using the RD 8100 EM Locator which utilizes 5 precision-ground antennas to deliver some of the most accurate readings from any machine on the market today. Jason Smith, SUE Crew Chief in Ft Lauderdale said, “It’s great to be a part of a company that shows us their support and provides us with the best equipment available in order to get the job done”. The next phase of this project will be approximately 104 miles of utility designates along the Turnpike mainline and side streets.
