WGI is working with municipalities across the country to implement quick-build programs in response to COVID-19. We are ready to help you leverage Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds to expand business opportunities for restaurants, implement wider sidewalks, install new bike lanes, and create outdoor classrooms.
Helping Businesses in Farmers Branch, TX
We recently teamed up with the City of Farmers Branch, TX to provide outdoor patio seating for two local restaurants. The patio spaces allowed the restaurants to increase their capacity and welcome more guests. Funding was provided through Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act grants.

Open Norfolk
Norfolk, VA
The City of Norfolk initiated a boots-on-the-ground community assistance program using CARES Act funding to provide temporary, flexible outdoor spaces for residents to gather safely.
We teamed with Work Program Architects and Yard + Co. on the OpenNorfolk initiative, helping restaurants and other small businesses open up safely by activating outdoor spaces. We helped install pop-up bike lanes, parklets, and outdoor seating areas for restaurants. In addition, we helped connect an arts and technology center with an outdoor classroom and learning garden for children, providing a safe place for children to learn and gather.
