Colorado State University Feasibility Study

Client:
Colorado State University
Market:
Education, Higher Education
Location:
Fort Collins, Colorado

Project Details

Colorado State University officials were considering the development of their first parking structure to preserve green space and provide more parking at a convenient location. WGI conducted a feasibility study to determine which of seven potential sites best accommodated a parking structure.

It was determined early in the study process that all seven sites possessed the site characteristics to accommodate a parking structure. Although several criteria were used to evaluate the sites, based on discussions with university officials, the most important factor was the revenue potential of the site. For that reason, WGI ultimately selected the engineering lot near the Lory Student Center as the preferred location for the parking structure. This site was chosen because of its central location and its potential to generate maximum revenue. Two alternative sites were also recommended based primarily on having the ability to generate more revenue based on short-term parking demand and the turnover of spaces.

Project Highlights:

• Develop concept plans for the preferred and alternate sites.
• Project construction and development cost estimates, operating expenses and revenues for each site as part of a financial feasibility analysis.
