Grand Rapids Community College Pedestrian Bridges Repairs

Project Details

GRCC has eight pedestrian bridges located throughout their downtown Grand Rapids campus. WGI was hired to review the condition of the bridges, and recommend and implement repairs. Repairs consist of concrete slab, beam, column and wall delamination repairs, sealant, expansion joint replacements, and deck coating recoat.

Project Highlights:

• Precast wall panels will be removed from the pedestrian bridge that spans between the Lyon Street parking structure and the Ford Auditorium to allow for the inspection of hidden portions of the steel warren truss system. The steel will be abrasive blasts to remove corrosion. Steel repairs will be completed if necessary and repainted the steel. Precast wall panels will be reinstalled, cleaned, and a sealer applied to protect.
