Pacelli Hall is a four-story residence hall, constructed circa 1951, on the John Carroll University Campus in University Heights. The building structure consists of cast-in-place reinforced concrete. The building’s exterior walls are composed of multi-wythe clay brick masonry with limestone accents at copings, window heads and jambs, water-tables, and decorative panels.
WGI provided engineering services for design, bidding, and construction administration services to repair the exterior walls at Pacelli Hall. Masonry repairs included 100 percent mortar repointing at the brick and stone masonry, brick replacement, limestone patching (including ornamental stone patching), crack repairs, masonry cleaning, and application of a clear water repellent. Additional repairs included comprehensive sealant replacement, concrete patching and sealing, and slate roof repairs.
