WGI assisted Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at Shreveport (LSUHSC) to assess current and future parking needs and determine appropriate parking system improvements.
Parking inventory and occupancy counts were conducted to determine the utilization of the current parking supply. Future parking demand was estimated utilizing population projections for the various user groups and using future development projections detailed in the campus master plan. Finally, parking demand estimates were compared to effective parking supplies to determine the current and future parking adequacy in the study area.
After assessing current and future parking demands, alternatives were provided for meeting short-term needs, including improving the campus parking system’s management and operations.
• Studied current and future parking supply/demand conditions
• Studied efficiency of existing parking areas
• Suggested improvements to campus parking management and utilization
• Created valet parking strategies
• Suggested improved on- and off-street parking technologies
• Created Transportation Demand Management alternatives
• Provided costs of proposed operations, management, and functional design alternatives
