The Riverplace Grand Staircase was constructed in 1983 to provide pedestrian access between Lourdes Place and SE Main Street in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Grand Staircase bestows a majestic view from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church down to the picturesque riverfront of the Mississippi River.
The Grand Staircase spans several commercial spaces due to the elevation difference between Lourdes Pl and SE Main Street. The stunning architecture is derived from its grandeur and granite steps and façade cladding, combined with the use of natural stone and bricks. WGI, Inc. has developed a rehabilitation program for the 40-year-old structure to extend its service life.
