The University of Pittsburgh wanted to evaluate adding up to 800 parking spaces and identified seven potential bulding sites on campus. Each site had unique characteristics such as topography, site footprint, current site use, neighboring buildings, and adjacent roadways.
WGI conducted a site feasibility study to determine what site(s) would best support future parking. In addition, we evaluated the feasibility of incorporating street-level retail and/or academic space to a future parking structure.
• Assess constructability and costs for a future parking structure based on footprint, height, access, structural systems, elevations, and more.
• Evaluate opportunities and constraints from adjacent roads.
• Analyze parking functional layout, circulation routing and floor-to-floor circulation.
• Evaluate potential impact the added parking at each site will have on adjacent street traffic.
• Estimate peak entry and exit volumes.
• Create schematic site plans depicting garage location options.
