The Federal Government will provide up to $700 million for the development of EV charging, and hydrogen, natural gas, and propane fueling programs over the next two years through the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program. But there’s still confusion among many potentially eligible applicants about how the funds can be used.
Here’s a brief overview of acceptable uses of CFI funds:
First, funds can be used for the acquisition and installation of EV charging and hydrogen, natural gas, and propane fueling infrastructure.
Second, funds can be used for any related construction or reconstruction, as well as the acquisition of property, related to the project.
Finally, funds can be used for development phase activities, including planning, feasibility analysis, revenue forecasting, environmental review, preliminary engineering and design work, and other preconstruction activities.
The EV and alternative fuel experts at WGI can help you identify potential grant opportunities and pursue them. For more information about accessing EVC and alternative fuel grants, contact Marc Remmert at marc.remmert@wginc.com.
