WGI had the opportunity to provide structural engineering services that included building framing design, gravity design, and lateral design for the recently completed 10,000 s.f expansion of the Electra Hospital in Electra, Texas.
This single-story steel-reinforced building is currently operational and provides the community of Electra with an indispensable healthcare resource that offers comprehensive medical services including laboratory, radiology, rehabilitation, and cardiopulmonary services, as well as a 24-hour emergency department.
WGI was an integral part of every aspect of the structural design (schematic design & design development) that went into the planning of the hospital expansion.
Our team worked diligently to overcome the nuance and complexity of this project by developing a unique way to combine the new structural components to the existing design of the steel structure that currently occupied the space.
Our structures team was tasked with devising a plan to complement the existing structure & the new design without connecting the two structures.
WGI’s Civil Team also contributed their expertise to the project by providing the design for a secondary structure neighboring the expansion. This brand new structure will serve primarily as a maintenance & storage facility for the hospital.
