The 50 South Steele Parking Structure was constructed in the late ’70s. It has three parking levels; two elevated tiers and a lower slab-on-grade level that provides parking for 419 vehicles. The garage structure is constructed of precast double-tees supported by inverted-tee beams and retaining walls.
WGI performed a field survey of the conditions at the double-tee bearing points at this parking garage. The field survey included visual observations of double-tee bearing points and their supporting components throughout the garage. WGI recommended repairs to maintain the facility in a serviceable condition. The restoration included repairs of deep spalls under the double-tee bearing points delaminated and spalled concrete surfaces on beams and walls. A scheduled maintenance program was also implemented. WGI completed design documents, assisted with bidding, and provided construction administration services.
