In early 2013, a vehicle impacted the retaining wall, which separates South Ocean Boulevard from the Atlantic Ocean and beach frontage. As with many beach frontage properties, these are privately held and have access tunnels from South Ocean’s west side to the beach. The property owners are typically responsible for maintenance and repairs to these walls. The wall was impacted in the location of the tunnel access to the beach. WGI was engaged in coordinating with the Town of Palm Beach for historic property aesthetics and repair the wall’s impact damage. WGI designed and produced construction documents to repair the retaining wall, the integrated tunnel parapet wall, and interior tunnel concrete deterioration that had occurred.
