This accelerated beach renourishment project restored portions of substantially eroded beach berm. The project necessitated temporary damage to dunes and coastal vegetation to provide beach access for material hauling. WGI conducted pre- and post-construction dune vegetation and tree inventories to assess damages at the staging and access areas. WGI prepared a replacement plant schedule with native coastal species to guide the restoration of the affected areas to pre-construction conditions, and verified the restoration was satisfactory. Special protections were required for a state and federally listed endangered plant (Jacquemontia reclinata) identified within the staging area.
